Low code platforms offer a non-programming approach to application development. Low code environments give users the opportunity to create applications with minimal or even no software development or IT skills, making app development possible by citizen developers, often at the source of the need and when they need it.
There are a number of benefits to low code platforms. Firstly, low-code development can free up time for professional developers to work on other projects. Additionally, by allowing those who have a good understanding of the requirements the ability to create the application, time spent on iterating requirements and specifications is eliminated. This can in turn save time and costs compared to traditional, coding based projects. Tools can be created at the source of the need and on a timescale typically much faster than a traditional software development project.
With EASA, custom app development is made easy with the low-code framework. However, it is specifically focused on integrating existing models and software workflows. These existing models are then used for the underlying logic of the app. Instead of recreating your formulas, data manipulation or calculations, EASA uses the logic already contained in your existing spreadsheets or workflows.
EASA can create enterprise web apps based on models built with—or including software such as—Excel, MATLAB, scripts, CAE, in-house legacy systems and databases.
Excel is commonly used to perform calculations and serve as a user interface. Often Excel is also used to perform the functions of a database, which is a less than ideal use of spreadsheets. Many low code solutions aimed at Excel focus only on the database component. While very effective for implementing true relational database functionality to replace the spreadsheets, they have no ability to handle the logic component, such as formulas, calculations, macros and VBA.
EASA provides not only a low code environment to implement a proper database, but also focuses on reusing the logic and the desirable elements of the user interface that currently exist in the spreadsheet.
When you create a web app with EASA, the native spreadsheets are used as a ‘back-end’ process, taking advantage of the existing logic. This ensures that no rewriting or recompiling is required. In addition, any formulas and intellectual property are not exposed and cannot be altered by the user. This is especially beneficial when building web portals for public-facing applications.
EASA’s low code software allows you to create highly customizable web applications quickly and efficiently.
